The “Speed Culture”
takes away
your moments of relaxation
Sometimes we speed up in our life for nothing! And we know it
from the daily journey of our life. We want to keep moving always. And to reach
the destination as early as possible. I still remember the sign board where it
was written: “It is better to be late than to be Mr.Late.” Yes, sometimes our
over speed can take away our normal speed forever. And we won’t be alive to
enjoy our speed again anymore. So, it is
good to take a break from this constant moving regularly. Or in other words
slow down a bit so that we have more time to enjoy our normal speed. And also, we
need to learn to stop for a while sometimes. The moments we try to stop will
serve us to really slow down in our life for a better purpose.
I will try to explain this aspect with an example. You are riding on a bicycle. In front of you a
taxi car is stopped to pick up somebody. And you see there is not much space
left for you to continue your ride easily with the same speed. But you don’t
want to break the speed of your journey. Your speed culture brain washed mind is telling you not
to wait and waste time behind the taxi car until it is moving. You get out from the
bicycle and started pushing it by the side of the taxi car squeezing through, just
to get in front of the taxi. Yes, you succeeded and you are in front of the
taxi and you continue your ride. But the
next moment the taxi car is leaving the spot and in a few seconds time you are being overtaken
by the same taxi car.
Now let me ask you a question. What was the benefit of you overtaking that
taxi with so much struggle? Did you save any moment in your life by that
action? You could have just waited a moment, you would be still behind the
taxi. If you had stopped, you would have had a moment to take a deep breath in a relaxed manner, a break from the exhaustion you had from
the ride. A moment of relaxation which will give you more energy to freshen up
your journey. But nothing of that sort would come to your mind other than the need
for keeping up the speed. That is the effect of living in a speed culture.
The speed culture is teaching you to be fast and keep moving. The
imposed speed culture slowly stealing your moments of relaxation without you
being aware of it. Slowing Down in your life is a conscious decision, it cannot
come into your life automatically. You will have to create a new mindset in
order to enjoy those little moments to slow down. Otherwise you will move with
the flow just like a piece of floating wood in a running stream. And your health can be in a critical position.
If you don’t consciously slowdown in your life, you will be
worn out earlier than you would expect. And once you are worn out you will be really
slowing down, but that is not for the benefit of your life but rather that is the result of
the exhaustion you had in your past! And you will never reach a stage where you are back to
the cosmic speed, the speed of the universe. So be aware of the moments you get
to slow down and make use of it.
Life on earth is a wonderful thing. But the chances of living on the Earth is very limited. Your life can be just like a bug's life, routines and then death, so insignificant.
