BELONGING

I have a very long surname, may be one of the longest in the world that belongs to me. Thekkaekurikattukunnal.

But the question is Where do I belong? It is a question consciously or subconsciously sometimes we all ask ourselves. And it takes time to answer that question.

There was a time when I was taught by my teachers that belonging means, being part of something. In other words, belonging means “longing to be” part of something, like, to be part of a family, to be part of a group, to be part of a political party and so on. And I believed in it for a long time.  Yes, that was my basic understanding when I hear about the word belonging.
But in reality, we are simplifying and limiting a huge concept. Because the sense of belonging is natural and it is a human need, just like the need for air, the need for water and food, the need for shelter and clothing.

And therefore, belonging for me is something universal. Everyone have the need for it. So, the sense of belonging we cannot just limit to a family, or to a particular group, or even to a religion.

For me belonging is part of an internal search that will lead me to  bigger spectrum, it is a journey, it is a journey towards a larger entity. And it is a journey towards an unlimited source of energy. So, we need to find in ourselves first, the source of energy. And we should connect it to the universal energy where our belongingness is unlimited.

I would say it is better if I can belong to this universe and its unlimited energy which is still expanding endlessly every moment, to belong to it, to be part of that universal energy. Yes, that should be my goal. And that should be the goal of everyone.

And for me, belonging to the universal energy is a higher level of belonging. And I am sure it will be all inclusive. And there are no boundaries, and there are no strings attached to it. And there is an absolute freedom. The freedom of limitlessness. My belonging should make me free.

To reach that level of belonging is not an easy task.  But there is an entry point, that is meditation, where you reach out with your inner self and get reconnected to that universal energy where you are not alone and where you actually belong. That is belonging for me. In that belonging you too are there and everyone is there !!!
